Michael Rendall

Michael Rendall joined the RAND Corporation as a Senior Social Scientist in 2006 and became the Director for Population Research Center and Postdoctoral fellowship program in population studies in 2007. He is also the Associate Director of Labor and Population Program at RAND Corporation since 2007.

Before joining RAND Coporation, he was the Head of Social Demography Unit, Head of Ehtnicity and Identity Branch at the Office for National Statistics, UK. His previous appointments include full-time faculty appointments at Cornell University and the Pennsylvania State University in the USA. He has also held an adjunct appointments with the Population Research Institute and Department of Sociology at Pennsylvania State University, and with the RAND Corporation in the Labor and Population Program. He received his PhD in sociology in 1993 from Brown University, Rhode Island.

His main research interests are: Fertility and Family Demography; Poverty and the Family; Racial and Ethnic Inequality; International Migration; Combining Population and Survey Data; Microsimulation Models.

He led the UK's National Statistics Quality Review of International Migration Statistics, published in 2003. Over the last decade, he has published more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals on a range of demography-related subjects.
