Jan Van Ours
Jan van Ours (1954) is professor in Labor Economics at the Department of Economics, Tilburg University. He is also professorial fellow at the Department of Economics, University of Melbourne, CentER Fellow and CEPR Fellow. Jan van Ours studied mining engineering at the Technical University in Delft and economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where he also got his PhD. In 1996 he was awarded with the Hicks-Tinbergen medal of the European Economic Association. His research focuses on unemployment and employment dynamics, labor market institutions and labor market policy and the microeconomics of drugs use. In 2008 he published a text book at Princeton University Press entitled "The Economics of Imperfect Labor Markets" (joint with Tito Boeri). His papers are published in international journals including American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economic Studies, Economic Journal, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Public Economics and Journal of Health Economics. In 2009
he was President of the European Society of Population Economics. Currently he is associate editor of Labour Economics and one of the managing editors of Economic Policy.
