Govert Bijwaard joined NIDI in August 2008. He studied econometrics at Groningen University and at Brown University. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Free University of Amsterdam in June 2001. He worked as senior researcher at NYFER and SEOR, two applied research institutes in the Netherlands, and for Erasmus University Rotterdam. From 2004 till 2008 he worked on a Postdoc project, Dynamic Economic Aspects of Migration, at Erasmus University Rotterdam on a national VENI-grant. His current research interests include individual migration dynamics, life course analysis, duration analysis and the empirical analysis of labor markets.
